HIV Window Period: Test Type

HIV window period aur testing time ki jaankari

CDC window-period ranges

Test type Typical window
NAT 10–33 days
Lab Ag/Ab, blood from vein 18–45 days
Rapid finger-stick Ag/Ab 18–90 days
Antibody test 23–90 days

ये general CDC ranges हैं। Exact follow-up schedule clinician test used, PEP/PrEP use और any new exposure के अनुसार adjust कर सकता है।

When to seek prompt or emergency care

A possible HIV exposure within the past 72 hours needs urgent PEP assessment—the sooner, the better. Seek emergency care for severe breathing difficulty, confusion, collapse or another acute medical crisis. Testing and treatment should remain private, non-judgmental and clinician-led.
