HIV screening result positive/reactive आने पर अगला कदम panic करना नहीं, बल्कि follow-up confirmation और जल्दी HIV care से जुड़ना है। आज effective ART के साथ HIV को long-term manage किया जा सकता है।
1. Result की confirmation समझें
एक reactive screening या self-test result के बाद follow-up laboratory testing जरूरी होती है। Testing algorithm lab और test type के अनुसार चलता है। Confirmed diagnosis के बाद HIV care team treatment और baseline evaluation शुरू करती है।
2. HIV care से जल्दी जुड़ें
Current guidelines ART को HIV वाले सभी लोगों के लिए recommend करती हैं और treatment को जितना जल्दी practical हो शुरू करने पर जोर देती हैं। Treatment delay करने के बजाय infectious-disease/HIV clinician या authorized treatment center से promptly connect करें।
3. Baseline medical evaluation
Clinician viral load, CD4 count और अन्य relevant laboratory tests medical history के अनुसार order कर सकता है। ये results treatment selection, immune status और follow-up planning में मदद करते हैं। सभी tests हर व्यक्ति में एक जैसे schedule पर नहीं होते।
4. ART adherence और viral suppression
ART prescribed तरीके से लेने पर viral load suppress हो सकता है। Sustained viral load 200 copies/mL से नीचे रहने पर HIV sexually transmit नहीं होता—इसे U=U कहा जाता है। Regular follow-up और viral-load monitoring इस status को confirm करते हैं।
5. दूसरी health needs भी important हैं
Vaccinations, TB/STI screening, mental-health support, reproductive health और other preventive care व्यक्ति की age, history और risk के अनुसार discuss किए जा सकते हैं। किसी stigma या fear की वजह से routine care delay न करें।
6. Supplements या alternative treatment को ART की जगह न दें
कोई Ayurvedic product या supplement HIV cure, viral-load suppression या guaranteed CD4 increase का proven substitute नहीं है। Herbs ART से interact कर सकते हैं, इसलिए clinician/pharmacist review के बिना उन्हें treatment में न जोड़ें।
