Introduction

गोनोरिया (Gonorrhea) एक आम Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) है, जो Neisseria gonorrhoeae नामक बैक्टीरिया के कारण होता है। यह संक्रमण मुख्य रूप से reproductive tract की mucous membranes को प्रभावित करता है, जिसमें cervix, uterus, और fallopian tubes (महिलाओं में) और urethra (महिलाओं और पुरुषों दोनों में) शामिल हैं। यह मुंह, गला, आंखें और मलाशय (rectum) को भी संक्रमित कर सकता है।

Causes and Transmission (कारण और संचरण)

गोनोरिया का मुख्य कारण असुरक्षित यौन संबंध (unprotected sex) है।

  • Vaginal, Anal, or Oral Sex: किसी संक्रमित व्यक्ति के साथ यौन संबंध बनाने से यह बैक्टीरिया फैलता है।
  • Ejaculation is not necessary: संक्रमण फैलने के लिए स्खलन (ejaculation) होना जरूरी नहीं है।
  • Mother to Child: जन्म के समय संक्रमित मां से बच्चे को भी यह हो सकता है, जिससे नवजात शिशु में आंखों का संक्रमण (neonatal conjunctivitis) हो सकता है।

गोनोरिया छूने, गले मिलने, स्विमिंग पूल, या टॉयलेट सीट साझा करने से नहीं फैलता है क्योंकि यह बैक्टीरिया शरीर के बाहर ज्यादा देर तक जीवित नहीं रह सकता।

Common Symptoms (सामान्य लक्षण)

कई बार गोनोरिया asymptomatic (बिना लक्षण वाला) होता है, विशेषकर महिलाओं में। जब लक्षण दिखाई देते हैं, तो वे एक्सपोजर के 2 से 14 दिनों के भीतर आ सकते हैं।

  • Dysuria: पेशाब करते समय जलन या दर्द।
  • Abnormal Discharge: जननांगों से असामान्य स्राव (puss-like discharge)।
  • Pelvic Pain: महिलाओं में पेट के निचले हिस्से में दर्द।
  • Swollen Testicles: पुरुषों में अंडकोष में सूजन या दर्द (epididymitis)।

Risk Factors (जोखिम कारक)

  • Multiple sexual partners.
  • Inconsistent condom use.
  • History of other STIs.
  • Age group 15-24 years.
